Breaking news: Bishop Charles Brown sexual abuse survivors speak out publicly

New ground has been broken in favor of COGIC clergy sexual abuse survivors. The three victims of Bishop Charles Brown are telling their story publicly for the first time. Brown, who currently sits as pastor of the Williams Temple COGIC in Houston escaped prison earlier this year on a legal technicality.

Four days after that ruling,  the denomination’s General Board immediately reinstated Blake’s longtime friend to office. The previous suspension was lifted “without further comment”.  This left the impression that Brown was not guilty.  But Brown was never exonerated of his sexual crimes against the three young girls, thus he should have never been reinstated.   Report COGIC Abuse also published an exclusive report exposing the General Board who secretly paid off the victims.

But now, those women are speaking out in an exclusive interview with Dunamis Word blog which has helped to document the coverup and complicity by the Blake administration.

The time has come to hold Bishop Charles Blake, Sr. accountable for his role in these matters. According to one of the victims only one other person knew them as well as Brown knew them.

[…]one of the survivors states that until the interviews, which can be heard above, only ONE other person in the church has ever made contact with any of them. That was the Bishop Charles E. Blake, who spoke to one of the victims, as he knew them very well for a number of years. Unfortunately, that conversation was over some 15 years ago before Bishop Blake became Presiding Bishop.”

Report COGIC Abuse calls on faithful bishops in the church to immediately remove Bishop Charles Brown from office and launch a full and independent investigation as to Bishop Blake’s personal knowledge of these crimes. There is nothing more important than the truth.

These brave victims are to be commended for having the courage to speak up and take action to expose the truth about being sexually abused. This is not an easy thing to do.

But let’s hope that every person who saw, suspected or suffered sex crimes and misdeeds by Bishop Charles Brown, will find the courage and strength to speak up and call police, not the church officials.
Keep in mind your silence only hurts, and by speaking up there is a chance for healing, exposing the truth, and therefore protecting others.

You are absolutely right Judy. These women are to be commended for the extreme courage it took to step out and pioneer this new level of truth and freedom to tell their story. It truly empowers other victims so that they too can remove the curse of the abuser from over their lives by coming forward. Thank you and SNAP also being models of courage to take on these wolves preying amidst the flock.

I am a current member of Williams Temple COGIC. A large portion of us, over 50% have wanted Brown and his family gone since this story broke. Unfortunately, Brown is unrepentant, sin sick and a sociopath. See traits of a sociopath below. He has torn the church up, stolen from the church, broken up marraiges because of his extramarital issues…and continues to attack those that remain nuetral or are openly against his still remaining our pastor. He has sent letters kicking people out of the church, no one is getting the holy ghost, no one is remaining saved…our church is being taken over by registered sex offenders that Brown allows to go forth. He has an army of supporters that know the truthy, but have been brainwashed. The blood of the lost souls at our church is on teh hands of the national church and Brown. YOu dont ever put a fox over a hen house. He is a predator in every way imaginable. His children are bullies. Our MANY requests to teh national that he be taken down have gone ignored and unacknowledged…God is not pleased, but we are still praying and a large number of us still beleive that God is going to remove this man from our church. To survivors 1,2, and 3…God bless you for your courage. You have way more support than you know here in Houston. We are rallying behind you. One thing I know for sure. Pediphiles never stop abusing. If he abused godchildren and neices, CPS might ned to be called to talk to the numerous children that he is surrounded by.

      Qualities of a Sociopath

Someone who is described as a sociopath will have several traits that set them apart from those with no personality disorders. These traits include the following…

      • Lack of empathy – Inability to feel sympathy for others or to understand the emotional consequences of their actions

      • Cold, calculating nature – The ability and willingness to use others around them to personal gain

      • Shallow emotions – Lack of real emotion in response to events, limited capacity to feel love

      • Narcissism – A personality disorder in itself in which the individual feels strong love and admiration toward themselves (often a defense mechanism against deep seated low esteem)

      • Grandiose self image – They might see themselves as someone who is superior to others and sometimes even experiences delusions. A sociopath might see themselves as a fitting ruler of a country or even the world, but might also have delusional beliefs such as seeing themselves as a God or having super powers

      • Charming – While the sociopath is unable to fully understand the emotions of others, they are capable but rather highly adept at mimicking them and might appear to be charming and normal at first

      • High IQ – Often sociopaths will exhibit a high IQ which they can use to manipulate and plan

      • Manipulative – Sociopaths use their superficial charm and high IQ to manipulate others to get their ends, and their lack of empathy allows them to do this with no sense of guilt or remorse

      • Secretive – Has little need for others and is highly secretive in their actions meaning

      • Sexually deviant – The lack of remorse, guilt or emotional attachments means that the sociopath is happy to have affairs and to engage in questionable sexual activity without questioning their desires

      • Sensitive to criticism – That said, like all narcissists, the sociopath will desire the approval of others and will be highly sensitive to criticisms. They often feel they deserve adulation and admiration of the world and might feel victimized

      • Paranoid – Often their lack of understanding of emotion along with their incongruous self view means that they feel a lack of trust and paranoia

      • Despotic/Authoritarian – Often the sociopath will see themselves as a necessary authority and will be in favor or totalitarian rule

      • Lawfulness – Despite popular belief, a sociopath is not likely to be a problem to the law in later life, but rather will seek to find loopholes, to rise to a position of power, or to move to another area so that their behavior is tolerated

      • Low tolerance for boredom – Sociopaths require constant stimulation and get quickly bored

      • Impulsive behavior – A lack of regret and empathy means makes sociopaths more likely to make sudden rash decisions based on the current facts

      • Compulsive lying – As part of their facade, and as a means to an end, sociopaths are compulsive liars and will rarely speak truthfully making them hard to pin down

I encourage the faithful saints at Williams Temple to reorganize and be determined to remove this wicked man from God’s house till he fully repents. This reproach over Williams Temple will only grow worse having a unrepentant child molester as its “pastor”. The bible says to put people like Brown out of the church. 1 Cor 5. Those who defend him and keep him in position (including the General Board) are working for the enemy, not God.

It is clear that, as you pointed out, the institution must protect it’s “anointed” leaders, but send to the slaughter house those that speak against a leader. Especially when there is overwhelming evidence supporting the despicable sin of sexual abuse. While the technicality in the criminal case is stunning, the COGIC organization is now identified as a sinister organization that supports, encourages, and participates in the Secret Sexual Sins of its leaders. When you cover sin, you shall not prosper the Bible tells us. With no measurable accountability, and enforcement, the current COGIC leadership, from top to bottom that foster, encourage, and willfully, and intentionally participate in covering sin is no different than organized crime.
